Layered was built for one reason: shopping for clothes online means wading through thousands of nearly-identical listings with wildly inconsistent sizing and no straight answer about what's actually worth buying.

We organize picks by the job you're trying to do — build a base wardrobe, layer for winter, find a jean that actually fits — rather than by generic product categories.

How We Choose These Picks

Every product on this site is chosen using the same short checklist:

• Category popularity. We start from what's genuinely well-reviewed and frequently bought within a category on Amazon, not what pays the highest commission.
• Practical usefulness first. We favor items that solve a specific, common problem (inconsistent denim sizing, a shoe that stops smelling, a jacket that's actually waterproof) over generic "best of" filler.
• No fabricated reviews. We don't publish star ratings, review counts, or prices on our own pages — those live on Amazon and change constantly, so we send you there to see the current numbers rather than guess at stale ones here.
• Honest about sizing. Clothing sizing varies significantly between brands, and we say so directly rather than implying our picks fit everyone the same way. Always check the seller's own size chart before buying.

Layered is currently a small, independently-run site — there's no large editorial staff or in-house stylist team behind it yet. We're upfront about that rather than implying otherwise.
